Prosthetic and Orthotic Services

The rehabilitation assistive aids/appliances are planned, designed, fabricated and modified to fit immobilized or dysfunctional part of the body for people with special needs to bring back their normal function with the help of prosthetics. Top priority is given to individual’s specific requirement. People who require these aids/appliances are identified by the department not only through walk-ins, but also outreach programs that are conducted in relation to research, teaching, training and camps.

Socio-economic Services

ALC’s objective is to promote social acceptance of people with special needs by integrating rehabilitation process with prosthetics. This is achieved by group counselling where the group includes the individual as well as his/her family members. The counselling is conducted with the help of an NGO with the goal of facilitation and guidance for self-employment from both social and economic aspects.

Various government schemes covering these benefits are explained to the patient during the counselling process. Information related to new devices for rehabilitation available in the market is given to people with special needs during the facilitation process.

Outreach Services

Composite rehabilitation camps are organized in collaboration with the government and NGOs to reach the unreached persons with special needs.
