Dr Hemalatha has studied her M.B.B.S. from GMC, Bellary; DA from J.J.M. Medical College, Davangere and M.D. Anesthesia from KMC, Hubli. She has worked in various capacities at J.S.S. Medical College and Hospital since 1991. She is now a professor in the Dept. of Anesthesiology, JSSMCH. She has been practising anesthesia with all due precautions & care right from preanesthetic evaluation, conduct of anesthesia or in the postoperative care of regular & high-risk cases. She teaches undergraduates, postgraduates & the Allied Health sciences students emphasizing the importance of gaining clinical skills and knowledge and also to be empathetic towards the patients. She has been invited regularly as a faculty in various CMEs, state & national level conferences & presented posters/papers in state, national & international conferences. Moreover, she also encourages her postgraduates to present papers & publish in various national & international journals. During her tenure as coordinator for AHS (2014-15), she was instrumental in devising the curriculum for BSc Anesthesia technology students. She has been an internal examiner at JSS University & external examiner at various universities. Also, she is a recognized AHA instructor since 2012 & has been a coordinator for BLS-ACLS courses at JSSMC since 2016 to 2020 training interns, postgraduates, nursing staff, AHS students & interns. In addition, she has also done a certificate course in “Essentials of palliative care” and trains delegates for the same course.
