Dr Vijaya is an MD in Pathology with 24 years of service in the department of pathology. She is a recognised undergratuate and post graduate teacher. Her special interest is the field of anatomic pathology with subspeciality of Dermatopathology. She has undergone 2 months of in house training in dermatology. She is also trained in Immunofluorescence with special interest in the research field of vesiculobullous diseases. She is a practising dermatopathologist for the past 16 years.
Dr Vijaya has headed the department of Immunohematology and blood transfusion from 2014 to 2018. She is currently heading the department of Pathology from Dec 2019 till date. She has effectively organised guest lectures, symposium and conducted CMEs and national and world blood donor days. She was instrumental in getting the laboratory the NABL accreditation.
Objective statement: To develop and promote diagnostic and high order analytical skills to our students and release them as efficient pathologists to the society

She is the Life member of Indian Association of Pathologists and Microbiologists, Karnataka Chapter of Association of Pathologists and Microbiologists, Dermatopathology Society of India.
She is the Member of Academic council of JSS AHER and Member of Governing Body Council JSS Medical College JSS AHER,(2021) .
She is the research coordinator for the MoA with Institute of Applied Dermatology, Kasargod, Kerala which is an internationally acclaimed institute for integrated therapy for lymphedema and other chronic dermatoses(2013-2021). She has more than 30 publications in national and international journals of dermatopathology
