I am a proud alumni of JSS medical college as an undergraduate. Following completion of MD General medicine, I was privileged to pursue my DNB Nephrology under the tutelage of Padmabushan DR M K Mani, one of the pillars of Nephrology in India. I have been in the field of nephrology for the past 19 yrs which includes 3 yrs of residency and 16 years as a faculty (HOD of nephrology dept since 2008) in JSS medical college.
The vast experience of treating patients with acute, chronic renal disease & Renal transplant patients has enabled me to expand my knowledge and provide patient carewith current options. Ultrasound guided biopsies, paediatric dialysis, renal transplant including cadaveric transplant are few of my achievements in JSS. I have done more than300 renal transplants. Academically, I have the credit of being instrumental in starting DM nephrology and BSc renal dialysis technician course in JSS. The ability to provide holistic care which is the most essential component of treating renal failure patients is the important message which I would like to pass on to the next generation of medical professionals
The recent entry of the pandemic COVID-19 has thrown new challenges for managing patients with renal disease in terms of managing critically ill patients and regualar patients on dialysis. We as a team in JSS Hopsital have succesfully treated such patients and managed to reduce mortality and morbidity.
