Our Key Specialties
👁️ Retina & Vitreous Services
We offer specialized care for complex retinal diseases including diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal vein occlusions, and other medical retinal conditions. Advanced diagnostics such as OCT, FFA, B-scan ultrasound, and retinal laser photocoagulation are available, along with a dedicated intravitreal injection services including all types of molecules.
👓 Cataract & Refractive Services
High-quality phacoemulsification, MSICS, and premium intraocular lens (IOL) implantation are routinely performed. Preoperative assessment includes biometry and counselling for optimal visual outcomes.
👶 Paediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus
We provide early diagnosis for congenital cataracts, strabismus, amblyopia, and other childhood eye disorders. Paediatric vision screening and therapy are integral parts of our service.
🧿 Glaucoma Services
Our glaucoma clinic offers comprehensive evaluation using visual field testing, optic nerve imaging, OCT in glaucoma and intraocular pressure monitoring. Treatment includes laser procedures and medical management
🦠 Cornea & Ocular Surface Disorders
Management of corneal infections, dystrophies, dry eye, and ocular surface conditions is supported by modern diagnostics and therapeutic options. We have dedicated eye bank services and corneal transplantation services on a regular basis.
🧠 Neuro-Ophthalmology
We assess and manage conditions affecting the optic nerve and visual pathways, including optic neuropathies, cranial nerve palsies, and visual field defects, working in coordination with neurology and radiology.
🧬 Uvea & Inflammatory Eye Disease
The department specializes in the management of uveitis and ocular inflammation, following protocol-based investigations and multidisciplinary care with rheumatology and infectious disease teams.
💧 Oculoplasty & Lacrimal Services
We provide surgical solutions for eyelid deformities, orbital lesions, watering eyes, and cosmetic concerns. Procedures like DCR, ptosis correction, and orbital surgeries are performed regularly.
Community Outreach
We run regular free cataract screening camps including surgical services, school health programs, and diabetic retinopathy screening initiatives in urban and rural areas. A growing network of vision centres helps extend quality care to underserved populations.
Education & Training
As part of JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research (JSSAHER), the department trains undergraduate and postgraduate students in a structured academic program that includes clinical teaching, seminars, hands-on surgical training, and journal clubs. Department also has B Sc Optometry courses and Ph D Scholars
Clinical Research
Our faculty actively pursue research in retinal diseases, diabetic eye complications, OCT biomarkers, ocular inflammation, and preventive ophthalmology. The department encourages cross-disciplinary collaboration to advance knowledge and improve patient care.
