Department of Clinical Psychology as a part of the esteemed institute of JSS Medical College & Hospital was officially established as a independent department on 10th July, 2015. The department aims at providing a wide range of psychological services to the society as well as training students to bloom as competent and responsible professionals in the field to extend the services of clinical psychologist throughout the nation which is very scarce in the contemporary India. The department has well trained, qualified faculty members and well-equipped psychological assessment infrastructure to facilitate better mental health services and training mental health professionals.
The department of Clinical Psychology, JSS Medical College is one among the four institutions in the entire state of Karnataka to run M.Phil. Clinical Psychology with the recognition of “Rehabilitation Council of India” (with an intake of 10 per batch) and has a well-established research centre wherein sizable research scholars are pursuing their Ph.D. This enables us to bring in more knowledgeable, professional personnel into the field of mental health. The Department also houses M.Sc. Clinical Psychology which is well balanced as per UGC – CBCS system with the theory, clinical training and practicals which will ensure the necessary clinical skills in the aspirants, to strongly build their career in clinical psychology (with an intake of 20 per batch).
The department being a part a multi-speciality centre, is currently catering to the needs of psychological services of various departments in the institute and also external referrals. The department in collaboration with its sister department of psychiatry has all the necessary impetus to ground various courses on the stable platform.

The department is also actively supporting the department of EMD in providing psychological interventions to patients of suicidal risk to ensure safety and prevent future attempts.
