Dr. Devanand D

Dr. Devananda D is presently working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry. He completed his post-graduation (MSc Medical biochemistry) from Kasturba Medical College Mangalore. He has completed his PhD from Manipal Academy of Higher Education Manipal. He is a motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated educator who is committed to the academic growth of his students. He is involved in teaching medical, paramedical UG and PG students and routine diagnostics in the department. He is passionate about research activities and presently guiding 3 PhD students and has guided many MSc medical biochemistry students, MBBS students, and students from various other institutions and universities in their project work. His main focus in research is Human Papillomavirus (HPV) related cancers and the involved molecular pathogenesis of the disease. His research unit working on assessment of burden of HPV associated cancers and understanding the mechanisms of infection and carcinogenesis, thereby studying the most common sexual transmitted virus in detail. Assessing the HPV-attributable cancer burden can boost programs of HPV vaccination and HPV based screening.
