Dr. Suma M. N

The Professor & Head of the department of Biochemistry of JSS Medical College & Hospital, Mysore has been serving the institution with sheer commitment and dedication. Having obtained her MBBS and MD Biochemistry from JSS Medical College, Mysore, Dr. Suma continued at her alma mater to pursue her career aspirations. She has worked at various cadres at the Department of Biochemistry and presently serves as Professor, Head of the Department. Prof. Suma being a passionate teacher and a mentor has guided 8 MD students and 12 M.Sc. Medical Biochemistry students. There are 3 Ph.D. research scholars currently working under her guidance in the field of Cancer Biology and Nutrition. Throughout her career in the department of Biochemistry she has been actively participating in Diagnostic work. She along with her team has contributed to improve the department in terms of increasing the number of tests, providing quality reports on time, training herself & others including technicians to update knowledge. She has meticulously worked with colleagues to get NABL accreditation for laboratory services. Dr. Suma has 54 publications and many accolades to her credit and has brought distinction to the institution by being instrumental in the establishment of “Centre for excellence in Molecular Biology and regenerative Medicine” in the department of Biochemistry, JSS Medical College which is well known for its quality of research and attracting many scholars and faculties across the country. Dr. Suma with her motivation, perseverance and patience has been actively working for the overall development of the institution and is respected among her peers for her professional ethics, integrity, and humane nature.
