I Dr. Tejeswini C. J an Alumna of JSS Medical college started my career as a consultant in Internal medicine 13 years ago in JSS hospital. My interest in Geriatric medicine grew as I noticed that medical psychological and social needs of elderly were distinct from younger patients and required special care. As most of my patients were elderly I wanted to enrich my geriatric knowledge and completed Geriatric post graduate diploma [PGDGM] from Indira Gandhi Open University and joined as a faculty in the new promising department of Geriatrics in JSSH under the stewardship of Prof Pratibha Pereira, my mentor and the head of department of geriatrics. I have been instrumental in the development of the department. I have worked in various capacities as Assistant and Associate professor.
I am a fellow member of IMA, MPMRT, API central state and Mysore chapters. I have been a source faculty for Geriatric training of PHC doctors and nurses under National Program for health care in Elderly [NPHCE].
I have also been a faculty of UGGERI-an online structured geriatric teaching course for under graduate students. I am a PG guide and have guided two MD students so far.
I am a qualified American Heart Association [AHA] Instructor for Basic and Advanced Cardiac life support and train number of medical and paramedical personals for BLS and ACLS courses
I am a part of a non-profit organisation Ladies circle India and have been doing charity works for needy.
I have authored a number of articles both national and International. I have also been a part of many drug trials and research projects and my recent involvement in ICMR sponsored BCG trial to prevent morbidity and mortality in elderly has been highly lauded. My interests in Geriatric medicine include dementia and social geriatrics.
