Dr. Mahesh s shetty, is the Head department of surgical Gastroenterology, JSS medical college and JSS Hospital. He did his under graduation from the prestigious JSS Medical college, Mysore during the time period 1993 to 1998. He procured the MS General Surgery degree in 2002 from JJMMC medical college, Davangere and subsequently worked for a two years as Assistant professor in the General Surgery Dept of JSS Medical college during when he fine tuned his surgical skills. He subsequently joined Asian Institute of Gastroenterology the Number one ranked hospital in India for Digestive sciences for his DNB super speciality in Surgical Gastroenterology. He worked as consultant in AIG following his super specialisation. He later joined JSS medical college, his alma mater and is now working as the HOD. He has undergone special training in advanced laparoscopic surgeries, bariatric, oesophageal, pancreatic and colorectal surgery. He has rich experience in handling complex GI surgical cases and has performed thousands of major surgeries with excellent outcomes. He is passionate in teaching his juniors and the students in his department. He is an enthusiastic academician too, and keeps upto date with the latest and exciting developments in his field of expertise. He has many publications to his credit and has presented various papers and interesting surgical videos at various conferences across the nation.
