Dr. Rashmi P Mahale is presently working as Associate professor in the Department of Microbiology. She is a undergraduate alumni of JSS Medical college, she completed her post-graduation from Kasturba Medical College Mangalore. She has completed her PhD from JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research Mysuru. She has been trained as an internal auditor for NABL/NABH and is presently heading the Quality department of JSS hospital. She is also trained in hospital infection control practices and is the secretary of infection control committee, JSSH. She is a motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated educator who is committed to the academic growth of her students. She is involved in teaching medical, paramedical UG and PG students. She has also been a member of UG and PG board of studies. She is passionate about research activities and has guided many MSc medical microbiology students, MBBS students, MD microbiology students and Msc students from various other institutions and universities in their project work. Her main focus in research is in the area of genetic and phenotypic virulence determinants of pathogens, biofilm and antibiotic resistance. Other than the routine diagnostics in the department, she is actively involved in covid diagnostic lab, molecular diagnostics.
